Webb1 jan. 1974 · In this meeting studies were reported on chemisorption of gases, on catalysts, on surfaces of fractured metals, and on the reductive action of argon ion beams. With the help of ion etching, in-depth-profiles of the various oxidation states of an element were taken. Profiles of surface layers were carried out with ESCA by also using angular studies. An escape depth of (22 4) A is obtained for 1.2keV electrons in gold. The possible impact of this result on band structure studies is discussed.
